Today’s update will begin in smart speaker land and conclude with more evidence of Apple planning on expanding mouse cursor support on the iPad. We first go over Sonos’s problematic strategy of getting its users to upgrade to newer speakers. The discussion then turns more broadly to how we should think about software updates and long-term usage patterns for stationary smart speakers. The update concludes with my thoughts on Apple working on expanded mouse cursor support and a dedicated keyboard with trackpad for the iPad. We go over the strategy behind such a move.

We go over why Samsung doesn’t know how many Folds have been bought by customers and my estimate for how many of the foldable devices Samsung has sold.

I don’t think Apple’s significant stock price move is a sign of the company’s narrative changing. Instead, other factors are likely at play. The discussion then turns to Sonos. We go over the two red flags that continue to wave with the Sonos story.
