Today’s update will be dedicated to discussing a number of takeaways from Amazon’s 4Q21 earnings release and conference call. When gauging the competitiveness between the giants, Apple and Amazon seem to be positioned as fierce rivals. However, the overlap between the two companies remains measured (for now). We begin with a look at how Amazon’s business continues to be misunderstood. After going over the part of Amazon’s business that continues to frustrate Wall Street, we compare Amazon’s advertising revenue to revenue totals associated with other ad-driven business models. The update concludes with the big question facing Amazon Prime as management pushes through a new price increase.
